Rev. Charlene Nance was born to the Rev. Jesse J. (JJ) and Lillie Nunn Nance June 17,1947 in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She was the 11th of 13 children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lenter Morgan; Sisters; Geneva Nance Smith, Geraldine Nance Warren and Luary Jean Nance Kirk; Brothers: Rev. J.C. Charlene began her formal education in Lauderdale County Tennessee at Lillian Fountain Elementary School in Gates, Tennessee: and graduated from Halls Consolidated High School in Halls, Tennessee (class of 1965.) Afterwards she
relocated to Riverside, California to join with our oldest Brother, JC and his family and enrolled in the Riverside City College RCC). In 1966 she returned to Gates, Tennessee and married Joe L. Morgan, upon his return from South Vietnam, they relocated from Gates, Tennessee to Jackson, MI. To their union, four children were born. Their children began their formal
education in the Jackson MI communities. Charlene found employment as a bank teller, loan officer, and later transitioned to a licensed real estate broker. She would later return to her childhood home of Gates, Tennessee where she would plan, implement, administrate and finalize the infrastructure for Nance Subdivision. She returned to Atlanta, GA and continued her real estate broker activities.

Charlene professed hope in Christ at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Gates, TN under the pastoral leadership of Rev, J.J. Nance, her father. As she grew, her faith and education remained social anchors. Charlene matriculated through the local community churches aligned with the Mississippi Valley District Association, the Sunday School Congress, each falling under auspices of the National Baptist Convention Inc. She continued her spiritual journey in whichever community she resided, including residencies in Ohio, Indianapolis, Indiana, Tennessee and Georgia. Upon her return to her childhood home, Charlene joined the Word of Faith Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee, where she was ordained as an Elder under the leadership of Bishop Bobby J. Nesbit, Jr. Upon her return to Atlanta, Georgia, she continued her evangelistic journey and real estate advisory until her health failure bought her to transition on May 1, 2024.

As a single parent, Charlene successfully raised her four children. She has been a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
